Over-glazed painting of 19th century Albumen photograph, oil on canvas (left)

19th century Albumen photograph coated with undeveloped silver nitrate in light safe film changing bag (right)

Exhibited at UniSQ Art Gallery

A 19th century landscape photograph is coated with undeveloped silver nitrate and placed in a light safe bag. Any light would expose and destroy the original photograph. Next to it is an oil painting of the hidden photograph, occluded by over-glazing. The work interrogates seeing/not-seeing in settler colonial landscape representations.
